An Adopt-a-River Program for Duhatan River

Overview

In line with our commitment to sustainable tourism and environmental stewardship, Iremia de Lagos Glamping Resort & Activity Grounds proudly implements the Iremia River Conservation Initiative.

Through an Adopt-a-River approach, we actively rehabilitate and protect a dedicated section of the Duhatan River, covering 500 meters upstream and 500 meters downstream beside the resort. This initiative ensures that our operations go beyond hospitality — we become active stewards of the environment we share.

Our Objectives

Restore and protect the water quality and ecosystem of Duhatan River
Conduct regular clean-up and rehabilitation activities
Build partnerships with local stakeholders, schools, and eco-volunteers
Promote awareness of river health and responsible tourism

What We Do

Monthly River Clean-Up
Led by our resort team and supported by volunteers, clean-up drives are conducted regularly to remove waste, improve riverbanks, and maintain healthy water flow.

Greening & Biodiversity Restoration
We plant native trees and shrubs along the riverbanks to reduce erosion, filter pollutants, and provide habitat for local wildlife.

Environmental Education
Workshops and awareness activities are offered to students, guests, and community members to promote environmental responsibility and hands-on learning.

Waste Audit & Monitoring
Collected waste is recorded and analyzed to identify patterns and improve local waste management practices in coordination with barangay leaders.

How the Community Benefits

The initiative supports both environmental and social progress:

– Cleaner waterways reduce mosquito breeding and water-borne diseases
– Improved river flow minimizes flooding and stagnant water
– Local residents may participate as volunteers, eco-guides, or suppliers
– Youth gain environmental education opportunities
– Strengthened collaboration among barangays, schools, NGOs, and private groups

Our Commitment

This program is fully supported by Iremia through tools, safety gear, volunteer kits, and planting materials. We welcome partnerships from community members, civic organizations, schools, and eco-advocates who share our vision.

Caring for the river means caring for the community. By protecting this portion of Duhatan River, we aim to inspire a ripple effect of stewardship, pride, and shared responsibility.
